Tools
Back4app MCP tools let your AI assistant deploy and manage your applications. Describe what you want, and your assistant picks the tools and fills in their parameters.
Read tools only read. Write tools create or change something. Confirm marks the two-step changes that show you a summary first.
Account
Tool | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
whoami | Read | The account this connection works with: your Back4app account, a temporary account (with its deadline and claim link), or none yet. |
create_temporary_account | Write | Starts a 24-hour temporary account when no account is connected, so you can deploy without signing up. |
sign_in | Write | Connects your Back4app account: your client opens the browser for you to sign in and approve. |
Applications
Tool | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
list_apps | Read | Your applications, newest first: state, URL, plan and last deployment. |
get_app | Read | One application in full: code source, builder, port, start command, health check, plan, URL and the names of its environment variables. |
create_app | Write | Creates an application from a folder of code and starts its first deployment. |
update_app | Write, confirm | Changes settings or environment variables and deploys again. |
Deployments
Tool | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
create_upload | Write | For an agent with a terminal: the command that packs your folder and sends it to Back4app. |
deploy | Write | Deploys new code to an existing application, or deploys its latest code again. |
get_deployment | Read | One deployment: status, phase, URL once ready; the error and the end of the build log when it fails. |
list_deployments | Read | An application's deployments, newest first. |
rollback | Write, confirm | Puts an application back on its previous version. |
confirm_action | Write | Runs a change you approved after seeing its summary, such as a rollback. |
Logs
Tool | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
get_build_logs | Read | A deployment's log: fetching the code, the build, starting the container and the health check. |
get_runtime_logs | Read | What the running container wrote. Back4app keeps the last 100 lines. |
