  • The first 2 digits of the postal code tell about the state or the federal territory.
  • The other digits of the postal code in Malaysia tell about the area of the post offices.

The first 2 digits of the postal codes in Malaysia are used to identify the states, and here is how they work.

  • Kuala Lumpur uses codes from 50000 to 60000.
  • Putrajaya uses the codes from 62300 to 62988.
  • Labuan uses the codes from 87XXX to 87033. Apart from these ranges of postal codes, the other codes are divided among smaller states.
