Add AI to your project: chatbots, summaries, text generation, classification. OpenRouter gives access to hundreds of models with one account.

## Connect

1. Ask the Agent for an AI feature, or open **Connections → OpenRouter**.
2. Click **Connect** and sign in to OpenRouter, or create a free account.
3. Approve the access. The connection is ready.

Already have a key? In the **Connections** tab, choose **I already have a key** and paste it (it starts with `sk-or-`). Get one at [openrouter.ai/keys](https://openrouter.ai/keys).

## Free or paid models

| Mode | What it does | Cost |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| **Free models** | Uses OpenRouter's free models. Good for testing. | Free, with daily limits |
| **Automatic** | Picks the best model your account allows for each request. | Paid from your OpenRouter credits |
| **Pinned model** | Always uses the model you choose. Ask the Agent for it. | Depends on the model |

To use **Automatic**, add credit on OpenRouter, click **Sync** in the connection, then **Turn on**.

Free models may use your prompts to improve them. If you see "allow the free models", enable them in [OpenRouter privacy settings](https://openrouter.ai/settings/privacy), or add credit and use a paid model.

## Good to know

- Set a spending limit on OpenRouter while you build.
- The connection handles text. Image generation is not supported.
- AI calls run on the server and require a signed-in user, so your key is never exposed in the browser.
