Connections let your project use external services. You use your own account on each service, and usage is billed by that service, not by Back4app.

| Connection | Use it for | How you connect |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| [OpenRouter](#) | AI features: chat, summaries, classification | Sign in to OpenRouter |
| [Resend](#) | Sending emails | Paste an API key |
| [Twilio](#) | SMS and WhatsApp messages | Paste Account SID and Auth Token |

## How it works

1. Ask for the feature: "Send a confirmation email after each booking."
2. The Agent asks for the connection above the chat box. Click **Connect**.
3. Sign in or paste the key. Back4app checks it with the provider and saves it.
4. The Agent finishes the integration.

Click **Skip** if you want to connect later. The Agent writes the code anyway, and the feature starts working when you connect from the **Connections** tab.

## Status

| Status | Meaning |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Active** | Ready to use. |
| **Invalid** | The provider rejected the key. Paste it again. |
| **No credit** | Your provider account has no credit. |
| **Not verified** | Saved, but the check could not reach the provider. Use **Re-check**. |

## Keys in Draft and Production

Keys are stored as secrets, never in the code. When you publish, Production uses the same keys as Draft by default. To use different keys in Production, change them in the publish step or in the Production view of the connection.

## Remove a connection

Open the connection and choose **Delete Connection**. Your project skips the feature until you connect again. The key stays valid on the provider's side until you revoke it there.
